Ho deciso di smaltare le lettere impresse in un rosso sangue per ricordare le origini e di ricoprire il corpo dell’oggetto solo con dello smalto opaco e trasparente per far risaltare la terra nera con cui è stato creato ricordando le spiagge vulcaniche dell’Islanda.

This mug looks as if it has resurfaced from an ancient blacksmith’s workshop in Asgard. I decided to engrave the rune that means “Safe Journey” so that you can close your eyes during your moments of relaxation and let your mind wander—or, who knows, perhaps take this mug with you on your explorations. I glazed it with a special shade of blue reminiscent of the color of Nordic glaciers, and on the rim I created a “burnt/blended” effect that evokes the patina of iron. It’s a great cup for cappuccino!

Questa creazione è stata un’idea di un amico, unire la sensazione che si ha davanti ad una stufa accesa in inverno ad un momento di relax con un cono di incenso che emette nell’aria, il vostro aroma preferito. Creato con la tecnica della “lastra” ed assemblato come solo un vichingo sa fare, ho cercato di simulare i rivetti metallici delle vecchie stufe ed ho aggiunto una runa che significa fratellanza e legami di sangue. A simple, minimalist saucer made on the potter’s wheel—a Nordic person needs nothing more. It pairs perfectly with the “Trasparent Kopp” coffee cup, partly because, in addition to using the same glossy glaze, I decided to incorporate the same rune.

Piatto che rievoca perfettamente l’unione tra le terre nordiche e la natura. Questo vassoio è stato lavorato con la tecnica della “lastra”, le foglie utilizzate per lo stampo, vengono direttamente dal mio giardino che si trova vicino ad una zona boschiva ai piedi delle Alpi Italiane. Gli stampi per le lettere che ho usato, sono dei vecchi caratteri tipografici recuperati in una vecchia tipografia.

This piece perfectly captures the connection between the Nordic lands and nature. This tray was crafted using the “lastra” technique; the leaves used for the mold come directly from my garden, which is located near a wooded area at the foot of the Italian Alps. The letter molds I used are old printing typefaces I salvaged from an old print shop.

Tazzina da caffè semplice e sincera, stile nordico e grezzo, la runa sul manico dà un tocco in più alla vostra pausa, ricaricando il corpo e nutrendo la mente. Ho scelto di smaltarla semplicemente con uno smalto trasparente e brillante che avvolge l'argilla come uno strato di ghiaccio perenne, capace di catturare la luce del mattino, in questo modo la terra puntinata emerge, evocando le coste granitiche dei fiordi e la sabbia vulcanica battuta dai mari del Nord.

A simple and unpretentious coffee cup in a rustic, Nordic style; the rune on the handle adds a special touch to your break, recharging your body and nourishing your mind. I chose to glaze it simply with a transparent, glossy glaze that envelops the clay like a layer of perpetual ice, capable of capturing the morning light. In this way, the speckled earthenware emerges, evoking the granite coasts of the fjords and the volcanic sand battered by the North Sea.
